Last updated: 17 March 2026 · Applies to jackdjd.com
This policy explains what data jackdjd.com collects, why, and how it is handled. The site is operated by Jack Davies, an individual based in England. This policy is written in plain English in line with UK GDPR requirements.
1. Who is responsible for your data
This website is operated by Jack Davies, trading as jackdjd.com, based in England, United Kingdom. Jack Davies is the data controller for any personal data collected through this site.
If you have any questions about this policy or how your data is handled, contact: jack@jackdjd.com
2. What data is collected and why
Newsletter subscriptions
If you subscribe to the newsletter via the form on blog posts, your email address is collected and stored by Buttondown (buttondown.com), a third-party email service. This data is used solely to send the newsletter you signed up for.
The legal basis for processing this data is consent. You can unsubscribe at any time using the unsubscribe link in any newsletter email. On unsubscription, your email address is deleted from Buttondown.
Buttondown's privacy policy is available at buttondown.com/legal/privacy.
Contact form submissions
If you send a message via the contact page, your name, email address, and message content are submitted via Netlify Forms and delivered to jack@jackdjd.com. This data is used only to respond to your enquiry and is not shared with any third party. Netlify may process form submissions through their infrastructure as part of providing the service. Netlify's privacy policy is at netlify.com/privacy.
The legal basis for processing this data is legitimate interests (responding to a business enquiry you have initiated).
Analytics and tracking
This site does not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any other third-party tracking or analytics tools. No tracking cookies are set by jackdjd.com.
Hosting and server logs
This site is hosted on Netlify. Netlify may collect standard server log data (IP addresses, browser type, pages visited) as part of normal web hosting operations. This data is processed by Netlify under their own privacy policy. jackdjd.com does not have access to individual server logs.
Fonts and external resources
This site loads fonts from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com). When your browser requests these fonts, Google receives your IP address. Google's privacy policy applies to this data and is available at policies.google.com/privacy.
3. Cookies
jackdjd.com does not use any first-party cookies for tracking or analytics purposes. No cookie consent banner is shown because no tracking cookies are set.
Third-party services used by this site (Google Fonts, Netlify, Buttondown) may set their own cookies in accordance with their respective privacy policies. These are functional cookies required for the services to operate.
4. IT tools
The free IT tools on this site (subnet calculator, DNS lookup, compliance builder, and others) run entirely in your browser. No data entered into these tools is transmitted to jackdjd.com or any third party. All processing happens locally on your device.
The only exception is tools that make requests to external APIs by design (for example, the DNS Lookup tool queries Cloudflare's DNS-over-HTTPS service, and the IP Geolocation tool queries ipapi.co). In these cases, the query data is sent to the relevant third-party service to retrieve a result. No personally identifiable data beyond the query itself is collected by jackdjd.com.
5. Consulting enquiries
If you make a consulting enquiry, your contact details and any information you share about your business are used solely for the purpose of discussing and delivering the consulting engagement. This data is held securely and is not shared with any third party. It is retained for as long as is necessary for the business relationship and then deleted.
6. Your rights under UK GDPR
You have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Right to access - you can request a copy of the personal data held about you
- Right to rectification - you can ask for inaccurate data to be corrected
- Right to erasure - you can ask for your data to be deleted
- Right to restrict processing - you can ask for processing to be limited in certain circumstances
- Right to object - you can object to processing based on legitimate interests
- Right to data portability - you can ask for your data in a portable format
- Right to withdraw consent - where processing is based on consent (e.g. newsletter), you can withdraw it at any time
To exercise any of these rights, contact jack@jackdjd.com. Requests will be responded to within 30 days.
7. Complaints
If you are unhappy with how your data has been handled, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK data protection regulator.
